About Kamp Kiwanis
The Kiwanis Club of Calgary Kamp Kiwanis was founded in 1919 and is a chartered club of Kiwanis International. Kiwanis is an organization devoted to the principle of service: to the advancement of individual, community, and national welfare; and to the strengthening of international goodwill. Kiwanis membership spans the globe, with more than 300,000 members in more than 8,000 clubs in 82 countries, giving $70 million and 7 million hours for community service each year. Kiwanis Club of Calgary Kamp Kiwanis is a very active service club. Some of our major service projects include Kamp Kiwanis, The Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival and The Terrific Kids Program. Our club meets once a month for a general meeting. The Kamp Committee and Board of Directors also meet once a month. To reach our Club President please call 403-686-6325. The Kiwanis Club of Calgary Kamp Kiwanis owns 180 acres of natural area, 25km west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Kiwanis (Kamp Kiwanis) along with assistance from other Calgary Kiwanis clubs have built a number of facilities at this location that will accomodate up to 260 summer campers, or rental group users all throughout the year. The facilities at Kamp Kiwanis include heritage buildings built in the 1940's and brand new multi-purpose buildings opened in 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2005. Kamp Kiwanis - Calgary is independently owned and operated by the Calgary Downtown Kiwanis Club, and is one of 12 Kiwanis Camps located across North America and New Zealand. Our summer program includes a 100% subsidized residential summer camp for children from Calgary and area who just might not get the chance to go to camp due to family or financial situation. Kamp Kiwanis offers environmental education programs to Calgary and area schools to meet the Kamp's second mandate of "environmental education".
